Day 69 - video sample

Here's my first attempt of putting a video together on  Photoshop, it was really difficult and it took me a while to cut and edit the clips. I played about with different effects to give that fun edgy feel. This is just a sample the full video is going to be 1 min long, most fashion campaign advertisement video last 30 seconds to a minute no longer than 2 minutes

Song - Neon  Jungle -Braveheart . I picked this song because its an upbeat (that has female vocalist as the brand is a female brand ) Its a type of song you would hear at festivals or raves, and in those places you'll find rebellious, outgoing young people living life, which is the message of the brand. "Living life to the fullest !"

Day 66-68 making Gifs.

This is my first time making a video on Photoshop, I was really confused and didn't get it at all, so I decided to look for tutorials on YouTube. They really helped, but I started off my making a gifs because I have more image material than video.

Gif making
I stared off by changing the original image to red and the I duplicated it and turned the other one to cyan. I opened the timeline and clicked on animation were the layers where laid out as an animation. I copied each of the images twice and played them to see what they looked like, then I pressed play forever so the gif doesn't stop playing. I had problem with saving the gif , it took me a while to figure out that my gif was to big, I had to change the resolution to make it smaller, but apart from that it was quite easy.

the original pic

Red
Cyan
This is what the image turned out when I put the red and cyan together
Here I moved the cyan a bit to the left and the red a bit to the right, to get that defined 3D effect

This is how the gif turned out : I was very happy it was the look I was exactly going for

Another one

After that I got confident and made another one that was a bit challenging, where I made the model spin and make the background move.

Here I would copy the frame and move the model

This is what it looked like with the background. I'm not yet satisfied this is just a mess about, if I change a few things and add text it would look a bit better. I did the same thing with the background  ( add a layer than move it)

with this one I was trying to make the image smaller as it spins
 happy with the result

I'm going to add these gifs in-between my video to give it a fun vibe, with images spinning and flipping.

Day 63- exbibtion/ press event planning

For the exhibition I have decided to do a mini press event. Its going to have samples of the clothing brand, I also want it to be fun and interactive with the (clients) audience. I might give small portions of popcorn, do a mini photo-shoot with props, or do some kind of competition, where someone can win a price. So many idea but  the problem is how im  I gonna lay it all out with the small space ill be given.

Goodie bags/press bags

I saw these ones and I thought they would really go with the concept of restriction, because its symbolizing some sort of causation. Even though they might not go with the girly pinky theme, I think they might work, but the thing is as what though? goody bag? packaging bag ? or even decoration? hmm

When I saw these metallic bubble wrap envelops I fell in love especially the hot pink one. Can you imagine them as goodie bags? how quirky and cool would that look. Ill have to put the label on the front, punch some holes for strings and you've your very own NotAloud goodie bag.

But the when I see these I think these could work too. its got the stripes, its a cute girly colour and they remind you of sweets, because that's what are, sweet bags. But instead of having sweets they'll have NotAloud goodies

I might just get enough goodie bags to display and maybe some to give away, if there's enough.

Inspiration

Then I started to look at inspiration for the mini press event layout.

Here I looked a boohoo.com's press event

Ive notices that having the logo everywhere in bold where everyone can see is very important, I need to consider how im going to make my logo big enough, since the largest the college printer can print is A3 paper. I also need to figure out how im going to display the clothing, im I goanna get a rail? , are they goanna hang from something ?

I was thinking maybe have buntings with the logo

I started looking at visual merchandising/show rooms

Day 62- Website

I started off by doing research on online clothing websites, otherwise known as etail. I made sure a picked websites that market similar customers and age range as my brand.

Website Research
This is an online etalier called motel rock

Hotmess is an online brand that has similar characteristic as my brand. Its a fun rebellious  fashion apparel

Missguided is a girly fashion brand, its one of the words leading fashion etalier.

My Websites

At first I kind of struggled with the layout and making it look like a real website, so I looked at my website research and I copied some features from different websites and combined them to create my own. I wanted to make sure I didn't copy and paste anything, so I made everything from scratch using other websites as guidance. I wanted my website to have a distinctive symbol/ image, so I used hazard stripes that I used on a previous logo, so when you see it you know its something from NotAloud.

This is an unfinished website layout I did.

This is a finished website layout

This is how it would look on a computer

Day 61- promotional stuff

Today I completed a few promotional items, business cards and loyalty voucher/ newsletter. They still need developing. I'm still unsure about the logo being on the cards with the images, I feel like it doesn't go, but I'm going to develop them and ask for others opinion

Here are business cards I made, they are sill a working progress. First of all some of the font isn't legible so I need to change that, and also the cards are too long, so I might make them bigger or change the shape of them.

Here I made loyalty voucher/ newsletter  I was just playing about with the colours to give them different feels. I like both of them but I prefer the brighter one because its clear and fits in with the theme

Day 54 - Lookbook

Today I started creating the layout for my look books , I was just messing about with different backgrounds but this is just a rough layout of what I could look like, there's still text to add.

This could be a potential cover for the lookbook

For this look I was going for a summer vibe, clearly a lot of improvements to do

Here I used a rope background, to symbolize toughness which is what this look is about.

Day 53 - Creating instagram

As part of having a brand its important to have so social networking sites to which is good for marketing: to get out there and be known. So today I created an instagram since its a powerful tool that most upcoming brands use. It took me 1 hour and 40 mins to make.

Stared off like this

Day 52 planing out

So 25 days until the exhibition.
So I've being  thinking how am I actually gonna setup / layout my work. Because I'm making a brand I didn't just want to have a sketch book and a folder of my lookbook as my exhibition, I wanted to do something as if this was my actual brand and I was having either a lunch party or a pop up shop, something fun that will get the public involved and engaged.

Day 52 questionnaire feedback

So today I handed gave out my questionnaire to a load of people aged between 18-50 to see what they thought of my logos. From the research i did I found that the all of the females aged 18-20 found logo four the most eye catching . Most of the males agreed with the females that logo 4 was the strongest , some said the logos have a fun aspect to it but not soo much reblious. Logo 1 was the weakest as people failed to read what it said, they suggested making it bigger and using bolder font. Also one of my graphics tutor said that most brand logos are hand designed to give it a more unique and quirky feel, than just getting don't off the internet or photoshop. So clearly I've still got a lot of developing for the other logos, but number 4 seems to be everyone's favourites , but maybe if I drew my own logo and played about with different fonts and made it more personal , maybe they might choose that instead.
I've got to be more visually aware of where I place my logos and if they will stand out or blend in.
I've learnt a lot today, thanks to my peers and my tutors.

Day 48- advice/ feedback

So today I spoke to my tutor and I show him the work I've done so far. I showed him my photo shoot images he liked then but said I needed to be careful with the images I pick because not all of them where clear. I took that advice in and now I'm more selective with my images making sure they're sharp enough.
Apart from the photoshoot I also showed him the logo designs I did for the brand, to see if I had made the right choice. He told me that he wasn't too sure about the logo that I had picked as my final one, he said the font was to child like , wich was the type of look I was going for to represent my fun brand. He gave me a couple of suggestions that I should change this and ajust that and do a questionnaire to ask people wich logo do they think best fits my brand?, wich logo is most eye catching ?'
What age group do you think the brand is for?  Ect
To get a range of answers from people around college, to see what is best. Wich is also market research, in actual industry people who want to create a brand have to do their market research and ask the public what they like what they don't like, to get an idea on what to have in the brand.

Day 47 - Photoshoot day !!

So today was the day I did my photoshoot, it was fun, exciting and nerve racking, but it did it.
I was happy with the final out come, it was a fun and chille environment. I achieved the lool I was going for. For my first time I was proud, but it wasn't easy organizing, it was so stressful but so worth it in the end, when you see your vision come to life.

Here are a few edited shots of the shoot

I love this look, the contast of the pink clothing with the dark hair , eyes and lips. It's a weird and unusual mix which the brand also represents.

This one was one of my favourite images. As the stylist and creative director I tired playing with different angles and poses, that compliment eachother. With this one I was going for a sunbathing look, as if they where sunbathing on the beach, but on the pink backdrop.

For this looks it was going for different types of styles /themes that go with sportswear. The first girl(on the floor)was inspired by hip hop culture in the 90s run dmc.with the gold chains Adidas hoodie.
While the girl standing up I was going for more of a basketball attire ,but made it into sports luxe with the heeled sandal, to give it more of a girly touch.

Day 45 -Photo shoot location/ Keeping on buget

Location
So today I went to view where ill be shooting ant filming the  lookbook for my brand. I spoke to the technicians and they gave me really cool exciting ideas for my shoot. They where really friendly and helpful. The studio id very lowkey and is hidden behind shudhill bus station in Manchester Called  We are Kin, check their website out  www.wearekin.net/

The studio space was a lot bigger than the one in Fred Aldos, this one wasn't as public where customers buying things can peep through your shoot, plus I wanted my models to change without conscious. It also come with a variety of backdrops prop and lighting. Its a really calm relaxed environment with sofa to chill a toilet kitchen ect.

After the indoor shoot I want to do an out door shoot to give it the grungy 'I don't care' look.

Budgeting
So They told me because its my first time shooting with them, their doing a 30% off deal, and I was planning to do a 2 hour shoot which was £40 and now has being reduced to £28, wich made me think if I did  3hours which would of being £60 , I will be paying £2 more than the normal 2 hour shoot. Ill stick with 2 hours and if it goes over than ill go with 3 hours

So here are a couple of props and essentialsI bought from the pound shop, trying to spend as little as possible now. there's some props already at the studio so I only got a few, I got balloons, pompoms , hair bands im going to use as chokers (neckeles)  and more hair stuff

Now what ive got left to get for the shoot are some accessories, necklaces, earrings, caps, sunglasses, fake eyelashes, and maybe some fake bright nails.

Day 41 - Planning mood board

So today I made a bunch of mood boards  for the photo-shoot, so that the models and photographer have an idea on what poses and looks they can do. So that when it gets to the day people wont be struggling ,they can just look at the images for guidance and do it.

So for  makeup I was going for a dark Smokey/ cat eye with either dark or bright lip colour to give it a bit of pop and edge. For the hair I was going for a more urban ,punk type of look, hairstyles from the 90's, the gelled baby hairs and china buns.

So for my poses I wanted to have 2 looks a playful girly look and a more tough moody look, to represent the girly ghetto look the brand stands for. The fun look is meant to be girly, relaxed and the models just having, with bright pastel colours and lots of fun props to play with.

The Moody look is ment to represent the tough ghetto/ tomboyish side of the brand.i want the colours to be a bit more toned down, and a bit dark to set the mood. I want it to be a look with attitude and 'I don't give a fuck' attitude , which is what the brand represents carefree and wild ,weather its in a fun way or a tough way.
