Evaluation

Evaluation

In conclusion my overall experience of has had its ups and its downs, I started off not having a straight idea of what my final project would be. In the beginning I thought it would be a good idea to design and make a garment piece and then promote it, with the theme of restriction. But when it came down to planning it  (what I’ll need and what I’ll have to do) I panicked because it was going to be far too expensive and I was doing something I’ve never actually done : Making high fashion bondage  clothing from scratch. Therefore I decided that I wasn’t going to carry on with the textiles aspect of the project, because I wasn’t going to study textiles I was going to study fashion communication and styling. So had to adapt my ideas to suite fashion communication, but still keeping to my theme of restriction. I wanted this project to be something I’ll enjoy and will be fun. I looked at different types of restrictions e.g. Age restriction, gender restriction, road restrictions. To get a broader idea of the different things I could use. I looked at gender restrictions and from there I created an online clothing brand called Not aloud.

Overall I was pleased with my PCS in terms of success the ideas I come with and how certain situations turned, like the photo-shoot: being the creative director, stylist and designer. I was really happy with the outcome.  In terms of improvements I could have made the promotional items to a professional standard, by getting them done professionally to give them that finished look e.g. business card, look book, t-shirts. However my PSC didn’t meet the intentions I set in my original statement( as stated above) because I realised it didn’t match my choice of course at University Fashion Communication and Styling.

In Conclusion the overall project was good, and I was happy with the decision and I changes I made during it, it came together well. Also it has taught me how to be organised and organise events eg fashion shoots, press party.  But one thing I cold of done better was communicate more with the tutors and getting their feedback on improvement. Apart from that I used Communication to communicate and collaborate with students, friends and other people in the creative industry asking them for favours or for their opinion. In addition to that I have learnt that communication and knowing the right people is key to success in fashion industry.

Day 82 - Exihbtion review

so yesterday was the day of the exhibition, it was a very stressful and long day, but I guess it was worth it even though It could of looked better. At one point I didn't think I was going to pull it off because I had so much too do, and my usb with most of my work had broken and wasn't working, so I had come up with a quick solution (as my fashion advert video was on there) so I quickly made a PowerPoint with  the final developed work, because I couldn't just have a TV screen with nothing, so I made use of it I. I have learnt that I should always backup my work .

My exhibition : Not Aloud Launch Party

I think what saved it for me was having the TV screen show casing my work, because what I had on the table was very minimal

The t-shirts where purposely creased and un ironed, because of the brand care free motto, and its something that's not seen as presentable and not allowed.
Improvements I was meant to have mini bangs full of popcorn for the public to take, but due too much stress I complete forgot the popcorn. Also there was meant to be more things in the goodie bags such a gift, discount card, some vouchers.  but other than that It was okayish, could of being better if I planned and prepared properly.

Day- 76 exhbtion layout

So 5days until the exhibition  and I've never been so terrified, where has the time gone. With that said today I'm planning how my exhibition/ launch party is going to look. After looking at display stalls and visual merchandising, I designed how I wanted it to look with the space provided. It took a while to put everything in place
I started of using a cube template and drawing around to suit my vision

This is how I want the final out come of the exhibition to look. its going to take time and dedication

Day 73 -Invatations

I was thinking as this is a launch party it need people and people cant come without any invites. Invites for press events are normally sent to popular bloggers, celebs, journalist people who are always in the media. brands do this to get recondition and promotion. As this my brand isn't a real brand and the a lunch party isn't going to be a proper one, I wont be sending them to any bloggers or celebs.

This is how I wanted my invitation envelope to looklike.

Envelope cube

Personally I think this invitation has too much going on I want to keep it simple

I wanted the invitations to be simple and not have too much going , so I picked simple colours that didn't clash with the hot pink envelope

Day 71- advertisment

Today I sorted out my advertisement, and I wanted to use different types of billboard advertisement to show variety and development. I wanted each billboard to look different  and have different vibes. I realised that some where not as strong as others, and I will work on improving

This billboard layout was inspired by a magazine layout.

This billboard was originally a discount card -

I wanted to experiment with the different places a billboard can be
so in this image above I wanted it to look like as if the celebs& bloggers where coming from an exclusive press event , with goodie bags and cloths to take home. I wanted to try out something a bit different and use my bags as a way of advertising. By sending freebees to well known celebs and bloggers to review and wear, so that there audience can check out the brand, and hopefully expand it.

To do List
Finish the video
Complete look book
create invitations
make press party packs
Print out logos on bag
Set up exhibition - drill the hanger in the wall, cover the bored with logo/striped background, bring the cloths and hang them, decorate with balloons and pompoms, set up the TV for video to play, sort out business cards, fake wine / popcorn give out.

Day 69 - video sample

Here's my first attempt of putting a video together on  Photoshop, it was really difficult and it took me a while to cut and edit the clips. I played about with different effects to give that fun edgy feel. This is just a sample the full video is going to be 1 min long, most fashion campaign advertisement video last 30 seconds to a minute no longer than 2 minutes

Song - Neon  Jungle -Braveheart . I picked this song because its an upbeat (that has female vocalist as the brand is a female brand ) Its a type of song you would hear at festivals or raves, and in those places you'll find rebellious, outgoing young people living life, which is the message of the brand. "Living life to the fullest !"

Day 66-68 making Gifs.

This is my first time making a video on Photoshop, I was really confused and didn't get it at all, so I decided to look for tutorials on YouTube. They really helped, but I started off my making a gifs because I have more image material than video.

Gif making
I stared off by changing the original image to red and the I duplicated it and turned the other one to cyan. I opened the timeline and clicked on animation were the layers where laid out as an animation. I copied each of the images twice and played them to see what they looked like, then I pressed play forever so the gif doesn't stop playing. I had problem with saving the gif , it took me a while to figure out that my gif was to big, I had to change the resolution to make it smaller, but apart from that it was quite easy.

the original pic

Red
Cyan
This is what the image turned out when I put the red and cyan together
Here I moved the cyan a bit to the left and the red a bit to the right, to get that defined 3D effect

This is how the gif turned out : I was very happy it was the look I was exactly going for

Another one

After that I got confident and made another one that was a bit challenging, where I made the model spin and make the background move.

Here I would copy the frame and move the model

This is what it looked like with the background. I'm not yet satisfied this is just a mess about, if I change a few things and add text it would look a bit better. I did the same thing with the background  ( add a layer than move it)

with this one I was trying to make the image smaller as it spins
 happy with the result

I'm going to add these gifs in-between my video to give it a fun vibe, with images spinning and flipping.

Day 63- exbibtion/ press event planning

For the exhibition I have decided to do a mini press event. Its going to have samples of the clothing brand, I also want it to be fun and interactive with the (clients) audience. I might give small portions of popcorn, do a mini photo-shoot with props, or do some kind of competition, where someone can win a price. So many idea but  the problem is how im  I gonna lay it all out with the small space ill be given.

Goodie bags/press bags

I saw these ones and I thought they would really go with the concept of restriction, because its symbolizing some sort of causation. Even though they might not go with the girly pinky theme, I think they might work, but the thing is as what though? goody bag? packaging bag ? or even decoration? hmm

When I saw these metallic bubble wrap envelops I fell in love especially the hot pink one. Can you imagine them as goodie bags? how quirky and cool would that look. Ill have to put the label on the front, punch some holes for strings and you've your very own NotAloud goodie bag.

But the when I see these I think these could work too. its got the stripes, its a cute girly colour and they remind you of sweets, because that's what are, sweet bags. But instead of having sweets they'll have NotAloud goodies

I might just get enough goodie bags to display and maybe some to give away, if there's enough.

Inspiration

Then I started to look at inspiration for the mini press event layout.

Here I looked a boohoo.com's press event

Ive notices that having the logo everywhere in bold where everyone can see is very important, I need to consider how im going to make my logo big enough, since the largest the college printer can print is A3 paper. I also need to figure out how im going to display the clothing, im I goanna get a rail? , are they goanna hang from something ?

I was thinking maybe have buntings with the logo

I started looking at visual merchandising/show rooms

Day 62- Website

I started off by doing research on online clothing websites, otherwise known as etail. I made sure a picked websites that market similar customers and age range as my brand.

Website Research
This is an online etalier called motel rock

Hotmess is an online brand that has similar characteristic as my brand. Its a fun rebellious  fashion apparel

Missguided is a girly fashion brand, its one of the words leading fashion etalier.

My Websites

At first I kind of struggled with the layout and making it look like a real website, so I looked at my website research and I copied some features from different websites and combined them to create my own. I wanted to make sure I didn't copy and paste anything, so I made everything from scratch using other websites as guidance. I wanted my website to have a distinctive symbol/ image, so I used hazard stripes that I used on a previous logo, so when you see it you know its something from NotAloud.

This is an unfinished website layout I did.

This is a finished website layout

This is how it would look on a computer

Day 61- promotional stuff

Today I completed a few promotional items, business cards and loyalty voucher/ newsletter. They still need developing. I'm still unsure about the logo being on the cards with the images, I feel like it doesn't go, but I'm going to develop them and ask for others opinion

Here are business cards I made, they are sill a working progress. First of all some of the font isn't legible so I need to change that, and also the cards are too long, so I might make them bigger or change the shape of them.

Here I made loyalty voucher/ newsletter  I was just playing about with the colours to give them different feels. I like both of them but I prefer the brighter one because its clear and fits in with the theme

Day 54 - Lookbook

Today I started creating the layout for my look books , I was just messing about with different backgrounds but this is just a rough layout of what I could look like, there's still text to add.

This could be a potential cover for the lookbook

For this look I was going for a summer vibe, clearly a lot of improvements to do

Here I used a rope background, to symbolize toughness which is what this look is about.

Day 53 - Creating instagram

As part of having a brand its important to have so social networking sites to which is good for marketing: to get out there and be known. So today I created an instagram since its a powerful tool that most upcoming brands use. It took me 1 hour and 40 mins to make.

Stared off like this

proud of the final outcome it actual looks realistic
